The candidate will provide in-depth mass spectrometric based process and product support, including but not limited to vaccine candidate sequence confirmation, peptide or oligonucleotide mapping, determination of the extent of modifications, and characterization of protein mutations or disulfide bonds. In addition to characterization work, they will also develop, qualify, and transfer robust mass spectrometry based release and/or stability analytical assays for vaccine or adjuvant candidates, including proteins, conjugates, virus or other products.
+ Identify key quality attributes for vaccine or adjuvant candidates, and determine a suitable approach for characterization and/or monitoring.
+ Develop mass spectrometry -based assays and provide analysis support with a high degree of independence.
+ Document experiments, analyze data, and provide conclusions obtained from assay development and sample testing experiments contemporaneously in an electronic notebook.
+ Lead method qualification and method transfer studies, and author corresponding methods, protocols, or reports.
+ Present data and conclusions within the group and to partner lines.
+ PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline with at least 2 years of academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology postdoctoral experience or an MS plus 7 years of related work experience is required.
+ Previous experience developing and utilizing mass spectrometry-based assays is essential. Experience with applying these methodologies to biomolecules or adjuvants is strongly preferred.
+ The candidate should be familiar with the general concepts of the ICH guidelines for method qualification and method transfer.
+ Proficiency with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and relevant scientific software is required.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
+ Standard laboratory conditions - sitting, standing, primarily lab based.
