**General Comments:**

The Sr. Graphic Designer leads execution of high-quality design across traditional mediums and digital platforms managed (or contributed to) by Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Strategic Marketing Department. These include: Identity, print, outdoor, direct and collateral along with providing design direction for websites, email campaigns, e-newsletters, campaign landing pages, digital display ads, social media channels and mobile apps.

The successful candidate will be a proactive communicator, collaborative team player and problem solver, with a sharp focus on brand standards and optimal user experience.

This position plays an important role in the ongoing iterative design for VUMC’s overall efforts as they pertain to all things design. This person should be adept at print design and able to adapt digital-first/mobile first designs for a campaign’s print components (and vice versa).

**Key Responsibilities:**

Work with creative director to establish to establish and maintain cutting-edge design across all mediums

Be able to oversee large campaigns from concept to completion while

Understand design elements of design such as type and photography

Have the ability to oversee printers and manage work through the printing process

· Ideate, establish and reinforce consistent design strategies across digital and print assets, including websites, emails, videos, presentations, sales materials and event materials

· Translate creative concepts into required digital design assets

· Work efficiently and creatively within brand guidelines and established website holarchy

· Receive and apply creative direction, constructive feedback, analytics and user-testing data to enhance and improve creative output

· Create and maintain digital channels and interfaces including images, graphics and HTML elements that support the front-end website, email, and social platforms

· Perform visual QA, and develop enhancements and new features as part of the established Agile-based workflow of the VUMC web team

· Work proactively with Marketing’s web developers and IT to maintain established VUMC technology standards

· Build and maintain positive relationships with external vendors and agencies to manage complex projects and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables that align to the overall brand, vision, and purpose

· Ensure system design compliance with accessibility and other relevant regulatory requirements

· Promote across the department and organization the importance of the user experience in digital and other communication channels

+ Healthcare industry experience preferred but not required

+ Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), MS PowerPoint and Word, marketing automation platform such as Marketo, Mac and PC platforms

+ Solid understanding of content management platforms such Drupal and WordPress

+ Knowledge of standards-based HTML/CSS/Javascript for responsive web and email design

+ Strong creative portfolio demonstrating a breadth of creative capabilities

+ Photography/video skills and experience a plus but not required


· Ability to synthesize and translate complex business concepts into visual design

· Responds to business objectives with creative, innovative design solutions

· Demonstrates deep knowledge of digital marketing best practices as well as UX/UI design

+ Keen eye for detail. Maintains graphic standards and branding throughout the UI design process

+ Ability to work in a tight knit, dynamic creative team prioritizing and managing multiple, simultaneous projects

+ Self-starter with the desire and ability to learn new skills quickly

+ Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with all departments

+ An up-to-date knowledge of design trends both in healthcare and otherwise

Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) and 5 years relevant experience
