Sr Bus Intelligence Analyst, Pediatric Infectious Disease

**Role Summary:**

Partner with Pediatric Infectious Disease (ID), Pediatric Antimicrobial Stewardship (ASP), and VCH Quality and Patient Safety, and Pediatric Quality Improvement (QI) Teams (content experts) to assess process, outcomes, and associated trends related to institutional initiatives, analyze departmental requirements and information technology needs. Ability to perform analysis in a collaborative environment with institutional content experts. Ability to gather and document system requirements for internal and external applications/customers. Ensure the integrity and security of the institutional data.

The Business Analysis Manager serves as the senior business technology analyst and manager for the Pediatric Infectious Disease Department that is responsible for planning, analyzing, defining, documenting, testing and supporting all quality and project initiatives.

**Department/Unit Summary:**

The division of pediatric infectious diseases features nationally and internationally-recognized leaders in vaccine development and vaccine safety, bacterial infections such as pertussis and staphylococcus aureus, viral infections such as influenza and coronaviruses (e.g. SARS), pediatric HIV/AIDS, global health, antimicrobial stewardship, and the care of children with compromised immune systems.

+ **Performs functions related to requirements definition, data analysis and BI tool utilization**

+ Documents business requirements for any departmental software needs (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf or in-house developed)

+ Recommends business process improvements to ensure efficient operations of the department as well as departmental requirements (enhancements) of the electronic medical record (EMR) systemLeads development team or vendors in related work

+ Dealing with key officials both within and outside the organization to gain understanding and support for the desired projects **Ensures appropriate documentation for all development and modification.**

+ Works with staff (users) to train and or explain modifications and enhancements to the EMR and how change will impact their office and current workflow

+ Accountable for the success of one or more specific departmental programs or projects

+ Obtaining the resources necessary to achieve the desired project objective **Ensures integrity and security of institutional data.**

+ Assists in the development of test scripts for area of operations impacted by changes

+ Assumes responsibility to analyze EMR and recommend new features, enhancements, and assess modules currently not implemented that would benefit Peds ID, ASP, PM&I, and Peds Pharmacy. Work with EMR Vendor to document our team’s specific requirements.

+ Works with content experts and sponsors to develop business cases that highlights the costs and benefits of the proposed project for presentation to upper level management and for review and approval.

+ Prepares, implements, monitors, and updates project plans. Coordinates with the system’s owner and upper level management to ensure the actions are consistent with the approved plan. Oversees the design, construction, testing, and implementation of the system.

+ Setting effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, and management/internal control standards **The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.**

+ Directs a team of subject matter experts, technical specialists (HealthIT, VCH Analytics, EMR Vendor Technical Support), and support staff to produce a business plans and implement project plans

+ Identify, diagnose and consult on problems related to implementation and goal achievement. Perform root-cause-analysis for the department Monitor and assess progress toward organizational goals and periodically evaluate and make appropriate adjustments to such goals

+ Supervise the work of employees and/or contractors as applicable

**Position Qualifications:**

· Bachelors Degree (or equivalent experience) and 5 years experience required.
