Responsible for the oversight of OP clinical documentation related to documentation, coding, and charge capture. This role will collaborate with a variety of departments to analyze and interpret data that ensures accurate outcomes that represent each patient’s experience. Creatively apply innovation to develop and maintain a documented program of continual feedback to organization leaders, staff and providers related to OP services revenue integrity. The Manager of OP Clinical Documentation Integrity serves as a leader partner to engage Revenue Cycle depts in collaboration with others to strengthen the patient centered Revenue Cycle roadmap. Reports through the Executive Director of Clinical Revenue Cycle and requires some onsite presence.
Essential Functions
Routinely analyzes concepts of OP Clinical Documentation Integrity and assures a strategic model is aligned with organizational goals and annual KRA’s. Implements a proactive approach to a healthy financial organization by serving as a primary resource to documenters within the EMR to offset revenue risk in the outpatient setting. Engages clinical delivery departments that conduct charge entry per coding or supply charges with a partnership of quality assurance validation checks related to documentation improvement. Partners with Revenue Cycle Business Intelligence and organizational leaders to exchange data and promote effective strategies that advance current process and close gaps of missed opportunity. Delivers clinical documentation education and resources to providers and staff. Provides input concerning the use and design of Epic EMR to capture high quality compliant clinical documentation. Develops a strong partnership with OP coding departments to integrate education and strategic planning effectively.
Job Requirements
Graduate of accredited nursing program or Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related health field. RHIA or BSN required.
Work Experience Required 3 or more years’ experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement. Leadership roles and/or management experience preferred. Five years’ experience in clinical patient care or Revenue Cycle related role preferred. Epic EMR experience required. 3M 360 experience preferred.
