Night Compounding Pharmacist Operations Manager

Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Compounding Pharmacist Operations Manager to join our compounding pharmacy team to lead a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. This position will be responsible for daily operations within compounding pharmacy and be a key leader. This position will also work closely with other pharmacy operational leadership, the head compounding pharmacist and pharmacist-in-charge, as well as cross-functionally with other pharmacy teams who are committed to providing outstanding care and wellness services for the pet parents and their pets

What you’ll do:

+ Partner with the head compounding pharmacist and pharmacist-in-charge in overseeing and directing a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and interns

+ Ensure the lab is safe and team members are following proper protocols and drive continuous safety improvements in partnership with other operational leaders and safety teams

+ Develop appropriate working knowledge of all compounding processes including SOPs, compounding software, and quality assurance and quality control to effectively serve as operational leader

+ Upholds operational standards including performance metrics, safety, and compliance while maintaining on time delivery experience

+ Focus on driving superior customer experience and ensuring Chewy compounding provides high quality compounding services using best practices and prompt engagement.

+ Own training of all compounding pharmacists and coordinate with operational leadership to ensure appropriate technician training

+ Plan pharmacist staffing to support all lab functions and coordinate with other operational leadership to ensure proper pharmacist and technician staffing to maintain appropriate supervision and throughput to meet business needs and customer demand

+ Perform personnel management including but not limited to performance management, training, and coaching

+ Manage daily workflow and adjust work force based on review of workload.

+ Review and approve pharmacist time off requests

+ Review pharmacist attendance daily and complete appropriate coding on timecards.

+ Review weekly labor forecast and proactively ensure that staffing levels are adequate

+ Schedule VOT or VTO as needed to properly cover business while also controlling cost

+ Develop daily/weekly reports regarding the status of business and disseminate that information to the necessary parties

+ Partner with head compounding pharmacist and pharmacist in charge to drive continuous improvement efforts and lead implementation across shifts

+ Collaborate with other pharmacy leadership (formulations, quality, compliance) to drive continuous operational improvement and communicate with other pharmacy departments on relevant changes or updates

+ Coordinate with facilities to ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance

+ Other duties as assigned based on business need

What you’ll need:

+ Current Kentucky pharmacist license (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe)

+ Willing to gain any additional license, certifications, or verifications as required

+ Effective communicator and leader for team members, direct reports, cross-functional teams and executive leadership

+ Excitement for working in a start-up environment with high level of ambiguity and change

+ respirators

Physical Requirements:

+ Must have visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception

+ Must be able to lift at least lbs

+ Must be able to stand for long periods of time

+ Must be able to wear PPE for long periods of time when required

+ This position will require periods of sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching and walking

Desired Experience:

+ 3-5 Years Pharmacy Leadership Experience

+ 1-5 Years Compounding Experience

+ Knowledge of principles, theories and laws, policies and procedures that pertain to compounding, specifically USP <795>, <800>, other USP general chapters, and best compounding practices.
