Mental Health Technician Psychiatry Dept

**Job Summary and Responsibilities**

Join our team as a Mental Health Technician and contribute to the well-being of our patients. In this role, you will be an integral part of the healthcare team, providing direct patient care and supportive services under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. This position requires access to keys for the locked unit and patient belongings safe, ensuring the safety and security of our patients and their belongings.

+ Assist with patient/family care needs from admission to discharge.

+ Monitor patient on Q15 min. observations including (Q5, LOS, and 1:1 obs.)

+ Accurately monitor and record patient VS and intake and output and daily activities, including patio breaks.

+ Assist Nurses with patient care to include Groups, Activities of daily living, as needed

+ Must be able to effectively communicate with patients in crisis situations and assist RNs with restraining patients

+ Assist in maintaining adequate stocks and supplies items

+ Assist with cleaning functions to maintain unit

+ Keep medical record updated, including legal requirements

+ Documents according to policy and procedure, standards and guidelines

**Job Requirements**

+ High School Graduate or equivalent required

+ Minimum of one (1) year mental health worker experience working with psychiatric patients either in an inpatient or residential setting required.

+ Current AHA BLS card.

+ Must maintain current Fire Safety cards.

+ CNA or EMT Preferred

This position is represented by SEIU UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement

**Pay Range**

$24.00 - $28.09 /hour
