KPMG is currently seeking a Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice.


+ Provide excellent client service to multi-state companies with state and local tax compliance reporting responsibilities including tax return preparation, resolving client issues, jurisdictional notices, and other tax-return preparation and review tasks

+ Review information presented on state sales and use tax returns before, during, and after preparation under a monthly deadline driven process

+ Research and draft technical memoranda regarding state and local tax questions and respond to tax notices

+ Supervise, mentor, and develop staff members

+ Assist with the business development, management and delivery of State and Local Tax (SALT) services, and provide assistance and oversight on large client project engagements


+ A minimum of five years of experience performing indirect tax functions and preferably indirect tax return preparation

+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university

+ Licensed CPA, J.D., LL.M, Master's in Taxation or CMI-Sales and Use Tax (Certified Member of the Institue for Professionals in Taxation - Sales and Use Tax) designation. Alternatively, requires completion of SALT Boot Camp 1, SALT Boot Camp 2, and obtaining the SIX SGMA (Six Sigma) Green Belt Certification. (Please note that any candidate hired by KPMG into this position that doesn't currently possess one of the aforementioned credentials/designations needs to secure one within one year from the commencement of employment)

+ Ability to develop business and foster client relationships

+ Ability and desire to perform in a high-energy team environment and strong managerial skills including managing multiple team members and engagements in a deadline driven environment

+ Excellent writing, communication, and tax research skills; attention to detail is necessary to review multiple tax return filings
