Position Summary:

Under general supervision the System Analyst is responsible for supporting the day to day operations of Covenant Health’s technological infrastructure, including: systems hardware and software, data security, physical servers, virtualization environment, storage infrastructure, databases, secure user access, and server security. The role is responsible for proactively monitoring and managing Covenant Health’s core servers, storage systems, and data center technologies to ensure the highest possible levels of uptime and system performance. This role operates in a dynamic and challenging work environment supporting and providing technology that supports the largest Healthcare Delivery System in East Tennessee.

Responsibilities

+ Works under general supervision to determine and develop approaches and solutions to system design requirements. Analyzes internal and external customer requirements; proposes solutions based on standard hardware and software.

+ Intermediate understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards as related to computer operating systems.

+ Researches and implements innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identifies approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale.

+ Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network, software, and system analysts or engineers, PC desktop technicians, project managers, end users, and customer and IT management.

+ Ensures system issues are resolved on time and efficiently to meet business deadlines and support the 24x7 system business functions.

+ Applies awareness and technical understanding of continuously changing security threats presented by viruses, worms, hackers, and malicious users in order to protect the integrity and privacy of data.

+ Communicates effectively at all levels of the organization, with internal or external customers, in written and oral format. Develops, tests, and documents procedures to be implemented by Operations Analysts, Systems Analysts, User Support Analysts, and Help Desk Analysts. Provides training, support, and mentoring to these groups. Participates in interdisciplinary projects across IT.

+ Develops, proposes, and implements system enhancements to improve performance and reliability of system; includes installation, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management activities.

+ Performs complex tasks in a server virtualization environment such as building virtual guest templates, managing OS libraries, and monitoring performance. Assists Senior Analysts in virtualization infrastructure deployments.

+ Intermediate understanding of Active Directory and other core Microsoft technologies. Able to create and maintain user and computer accounts and modify file permissions and security access lists. Intermediate understanding of group policy design and creation.

+ Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions and remediate vulnerabilities. Researches and recommends additional security measures applicable to the environment.

+ Develops and maintains operational, configuration, security, or other procedures.

+ Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

BS in computer-related field or equivalent work experience required

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years of comparable systems administration experience in a large, complex environment. Hands on experience with designing, implementing, and supporting past and current Windows server platforms. Highly skilled in at least three (3) highly complex technologies required by business needs. Multi-tasking with good communication skills, both verbal and written, are a must. Intermediate skill level working with virtualization technologies (VMWare, Nutanix, Citrix). Knowledge in Enterprise Backup solutions. Intermediate experience with Microsoft Technologies (Active Directory, GPO management, PowerShell). Ability to work independently and prioritize assignments with minimal supervision and as a member of a team.
