Licensed Practical Nurse, Maryville Women's Care

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

At Fort Sanders Perinatal Center, we’re here for women with pregnancies that require extra care, and we’re ready to help you make the best healthcare decisions from conception through delivery. For more than 25 years, we’ve provided comprehensive high-risk pregnancy services and delivered over 26,000 high-risk babies at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. We offer a range of care services for higher-risk pregnancies, including mothers over age 35, multiples, complications, birth defects, issues such as diabetes or hypertension, or pregnancies after infertility.

Position Summary:

The LPN/LVN I will provide nursing care under supervision of a registered nurse, within an assigned unit . We have an opening for a LPN position in the Fort Sanders Perinatal Center Phone Room. The main duties include facilitating patient communication via phone calls and patient portal messages, completing referrals, and minor procedures. The position will also require the ability to prioritize patient complaints, and communicate clinically with providers. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Initiates admission database and history, and in collaboration with the RN implements patient and family teaching and care needs.

+ Practices in compliance with all regulatory standards and adheres to all hospital policy and procedures in the performance of duties.

+ Performs and prioritizes nursing care tasks.

+ Accurately follows the nursing plan of care and pertinent medical orders in collaboration and under direction of RN.

+ Observes and reports nursing interventions and patient responses, and documents in a timely, concise and legible manner.

+ Recognizes, responds and reports changes in patient conditions to RN Team Leader.

+ Participates in unit specific quality assurance activities and patient care conferences as requested.

+ Demonstrates principles of infection control; collaborates with infection control nurse to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and personnel.

+ Assists in orienting new employees or students to unit routines.

+ Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.

+ Strives to achieve high customer satisfaction by using Journey to Excellence tactics including but not limited to, AIDET, bedside shift report, purposeful hourly rounding, careboard completion, narrating the care, etc”.

+ Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.


Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:

No prior experience as a LPN/LVN needed.

Licensure Requirement:

Currently licensed by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
