Position Summary:

Under general direction, responsible for installing, maintaining, and monitoring the data network, and interfacing with other IT groups to identify and resolve network issues. Responsible for the most complex testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications devices, lines, modems, and terminals).

Responsibilities

+ Under general direction, responsible for the most complex testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications devices, lines, modems, and terminals).

+ Responsible for installing, maintaining, and monitoring the data network

+ Interface with other IT groups to identify and resolve network issues.

+ Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses problems and factors affecting network performance.

+ Monitors and controls the performance and status of the network resources.

+ Provides primary interface with vendor support service groups or provides internal analysis and support to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.

+ Provides guidance and direction for less-experienced staff.

+ May interface with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.

+ Provide IT project support as assigned.

+ Local travel required.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to an Associate’s degree. Preference may be given to individuals possessing an Associate’s degree in a directly-related field from an accredited college or university.

Minimum Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data communications troubleshooting or network control activities required. Experience with Cisco routers and 3Com switching, and knowledge of structured cabling (patch panels, testing) and network protocols such as OSPF, TCP/IP preferred. Requires extensive knowledge of PC/LAN communications hardware/software, in a multi-protocol environment, and network management software.

Licensure Requirement:

Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
