Retail Pharmacist (PRN) Kingsport, TN

SCOPE OF POSITION
The staff pharmacist shall be responsible for the provision of pharmacy services/pharmaceutical care encompassing the service's Scope of Care for the patients of related facility/facilities.  These services will include, but not be limited to, the dispensing and compounding of both sterile and non-sterile medication dosage forms.
Personal characteristics necessary for the successful performance of the position of staff pharmacist include attention to detail, flexibility, cooperation, and willingness to work as part of a team.  The staff pharmacist should be committed to the continual updating of his/her education in a constantly developing profession.  He/She should demonstrate good communication skills, should be able to comply with scheduled pharmacy coverage, and should be knowledgeable about medication preparation, drug utilization, drug information, and medication therapy review related to the neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient age groups served.
The Staff Pharmacist will be responsible for performing all necessary pharmacist duties. The Staff Pharmacist will:
a)    perform patient counseling activities
b)    monitor patient waiting time
c)    monitor accuracy of filling by technicians
d)    perform all pharmacy related activities in the appropriate division, procedures, clinical drug monitoring, communication of appropriate drug information internally and externally
e)    provide proper documentation of all pharmacy related activities to comply with state and federal regulations
He/She should support the Mountain States Health Alliance Mission, Vision, and Values and shall be committed to the improvement of care quality via the organization's Performance Improvement Initiatives.
 

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The staff pharmacist reports to the Retail Pharmacy Manager (PIC) and his/her designee.  The position supervises the activities of pharmacy technicians assigned to the work area.  In the absence of the manager, this position may be required to temporarily function as pharmacist-in-charge.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The staff pharmacist must be a graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council for Pharmaceutical Education, and hold or be eligible for (current) licensure by the appropriate state's Board of Pharmacy.  (Licensure must be obtained within 90 days of hire date.)  Education and training should include capabilities/competencies to provide pharmaceutical care for patients of all age groups.  Previous retail pharmacy experience is highly desirable for candidates for this position.  The staff pharmacist must demonstrate proficiency in related information systems hardware/software and automated system.
