Biller (FT) DME, Pharmacy - Johnson City, TN
SCOPE OF POSITION
Ballad Health Medical Equipment Services/Mediserve is the durable medical equipment company wholly owned by Ballad Health. The DME Biller performs billing and collection functions utilizing knowledge of how insurance carriers work. This team member is also responsible for communicating with insurance carriers, referring physicians, attorneys, and patients to ensure that the best possible care and outcomes are achieved.
- Responsible for all billing and collection functions for Ballad Health Medical Equipment Services/Mediserve to include charge entry, payments, and A/R management
- Review and ensure accuracy on all accounts; verifying appropriate insurance, policy, claim, and billing address for each payer and eligibility prior to billing
- Perform DME billing for Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and other private insurances
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology, medical insurance and ICD-10/CPT/HCPCS codes to ensure accurate billing for patients
- Perform denials, incorrect payments/underpayments, past due receivables, and complete follow-up processing of Medicare and other participating commercial insurances in a timely manner
- Utilize both Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and billing system to perform billing duties
- Perform duties being a team player and having a focus on excellent customer service
- Effectively communicate with referring physicians, attorneys, insurance carriers and patients. Ensure to assertively negotiate settlements as needed, establishing payment arrangements
- Generate weekly and monthly reports as required
- Ensure to follow HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy
- Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
Required – High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years’ experience in Medicare/Medicaid and commercial billing – preferably in Durable Medical Equipment setting. Experience with Brightree software a plus
