LABORATORY TECH POSITIONS - FULL-TIME - WESTMORELAND HOSPITAL

The Laboratory Tech positions will consider Laboratory Technologists, Assistant Lab Technologists, and all levels of career ladder. The final title and pay will be determined by education, experience, and certification.

Laboratory Technologist

Registered Laboratory Technologist $3,000.00 sign-on bonus eligible

Job Summary

Demonstrates multiple analytical and judgment skills and knowledge of clinical laboratory science to provide accurate, timely results. Uses high complexity methods and instrumentation. Works independently in multiple areas of the laboratory.

Education:

  • Have an associate degree in medical laboratory technology OR
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from a NAACLS accredited institution OR
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in biology and one years’ experience in a clinical laboratory OR
  • Registration through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, HEW(HHS) certification, or equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA '88 and PA Bureau of Laboratories for technologist performing high complexity testing.



Certification / Licensure / Regulation:

  • PA Act 153 Clearances (Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system, Act 33-PA Child Abuse History obtained through the Department of Public Welfare, Act 73-FBI Fingerprint screening within 2 weeks of hire in order to meet 30 days of hire or transfer position requirement

Assistant Lab Technologist

Job Summary

Demonstrates multiple analytical and judgment skills and knowledge of the biological sciences to provide accurate, timely results. Uses high complexity methods and instrumentation. After adequate training, not to exceed one year, works independently in at least one area of the laboratory. Eligible to move to Laboratory Technologist position after one year.

Education:

  • HS Diploma, GED or equivalent knowledge
  • Bachelor Degree in Biology or Chemistry that includes 16 semester hours of biology (including one semester of microbiology), 16 semester hours of chemistry (with one semester in organic or biochemistry), and one semester in mathematics.



Certification / Licensure / Regulation:

  • Will be required to test (sit) for either MLS(ASCP) or Categorical registry/certification after 5 years of full-time equivalent employment within the lab area as a Lab Tech or equivalent position (these hours will be confirmed by the Board of Registry).
