SCOPE OF POSITION
The Nursing Assistant will provide direct patient/resident care and supportive services to nursing unit and health care provider team under registered nurse supervision. Responsibilities include: bedside patient/resident care, nursing assistant procedures, stocking supplies, maintaining equipment, routine housekeeping duties as needed, transportation of patients/residents as necessary, basic computer skills for documentation of care & procedures performed and for training and education needs.

Assists or performs Activities of Daily Living (i.e. bathing, toileting, eating, dressing, grooming, etc.) for the patients/residents of the facility as well as changes bed linen and assists with transferring residents from bed to chair, chair to bed and turning and repositioning of the patient/resident while in bed. Observes and reports the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdown to prevent decubitus ulcers. Reports accident, incidents, injuries, and/or skin tears to nurse supervisor/charge nurse. Measures and records blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, temperature and informs the RN/nurse supervisor/charge nurse if not within normal limits for the patient/resident (i.e. increased/decreased blood pressure, increased/decreased heart rate, etc.). Performs blood glucose monitoring if required per department expectations. Ability to use computer and basic clerical skills is a must. Performs clerical functions within the unit to include answering phones/call lights, inputting orders into the computer, supply ordering, etc. Performs other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate or as directed by the leader/manager.

Must meet education and training requirements of department. Completes training/competency in specialty skills/procedures for department population (example: orthopedic care procedures) as designated. Must be flexible to change working area/service multiple times daily.

For those working within the Mobility Tech scope, they will provide direct patient care and supportive services to nursing unit and health care provider team under RN supervision.  They are responsible for bedside patient care, maintaining equipment, transportation of patients as necessary, basic computer skills for documentation of care and for training and education needs.  This individual will improve patient mobility through getting patients out of bed for meals, sitting in a chair, and ambulating patients on the unit.  Assists in prioritizing patients at high risk for complications for delirium, DVT and pneumonia.  Early mobility includes: stretching, strengthening and improving patients engagement and willingness with activity.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
In lieu of education, confirmation of three years of experience in hospital/medical setting.
