**Responsibilities:**

+ Reserves and organizes classrooms and equipment to conduct scheduled classes.

+ Ensures instructor, equipment, classroom instruction and student ratios meet the standards set by the American Heart Association and Cleveland Clinic.

+ Applies adult learning techniques. Adapts and develops training materials. Prepares and adapts lesson plans based on American Heart Association curriculum and principles using competency based education. Instructs and imparts information in an interactive participative manner eliciting frequent responses.

+ Selects and uses audiovisual hardware and software to reinforce learning.

+ Evaluates and documents classroom and laboratory reaction and learning of trainees utilizing the program and state approved formats.

+ Other duties as assigned.

**Education:**

+ Associate's Degree or equivalent licensure education required.

+ Bachelor's degree preferred.

**Certifications:**

+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Life Support (PALS) required within one year.

+ Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) required.

**Complexity of Work:**

+ Requires strong verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.

+ Strong delegation, planning, organizational and teaching skills also required.

+ Requires initiative, self-direction and result orientation.

+ Requires ability to gain cooperation, manage conflict and demonstrate empathy.

**Work Experience:**

+ Four years of experience as a Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) provider or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA).

+ Two years of experience as an American Heart Association instructor in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Life Support (PALS) preferred.

**Physical Requirements:**

+ A high degree of dexterity to produce documents on a PC.

+ Normal or corrected vision, hearing and speech.

+ Extensive sitting, standing and walking, occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.

**Personal Protective** **Equipment:**

+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
