The Senior Director, Language Modeling is responsible for development and implementation of the language analytics strategy to be utilized in artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions for the organization. The incumbent and their team will develop models, tools and systems that ingest and understand the human language and how to leverage it in effective and automated solutions. The incumbent will leverage statistical analysis to create solutions for the next generation of AI systems. Specifically, he/she will research, develop, and deploy customer intent libraries to be used by our message and voice platforms. The Senior Director and team will study emerging trends and evaluate innovative approaches to solve language modeling use cases. Will utilize data analysis techniques to measure, evaluate and test language models and their outcomes. The incumbent will take models from development to production in collaboration with Technology Engineers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Develop overall company strategy for the language modeling techniques and methodologies for the organization.
+ Implement Natural Language Processes (NLP) algorithms for an internal research software platform that is poised to leverage natural language processing techniques.
+ Build, improve, and extend NLP capabilities across multiple lines of business.
+ Develop statistical and machine language methods to evaluate, measure and test models.
+ Deal with text/speech patterns, AI speech recognition, and identify and generate natural language solutions.
+ Manage team of Data Scientists and Computational Linguists to support and design plans and solutions.
+ Evaluate and benchmark new natural language libraries, prototypes, and pipeline development.
+ Work with senior leaders in the organization to identify long-term solutions that will improve quality, speed and efficacy of processes impacting the customer experience.
+ Communicate findings, gaps, and opportunities to senior leaders in the organization.
+ Ensure team is utilizing effective text representation techniques and classification algorithms.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not limited to performance management, focused investment in people growth and direction, feedback coaching and disciplinary activities (if needed), succession planning, recognition of employees, etc.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
+ Master's or PhD degree in a relevant technology field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
+ Twelve+ year’s work experience in data science, artificial intelligence, or technology fields preferred.
+ Five+ years of experience implementing NLP solutions.
+ Previous experience leading a team of analytics-related individuals.
+ Good understanding of AI and ML capabilities and be able to articulate clearly to others.
+ Experience working in Agile and Lean Six Sigma environments preferred.
+ Strong leadership, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.
+ Must have a blend of customer empathy, design thinking, learning mindset, operational expertise and comfort with ambiguity.
+ Ability to influence peers, colleagues, and senior leaders across business and divisional lines to take action on complex, technical or sensitive topics with company-wide impact.
+ Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply policies and regulations across a large, complex business.
+ Solid understanding and significant experience with modern software development practices, analytical tools, and/or hardware technologies.
+ Understanding of IT security best practices.
