Job Summary


Join a talented group of over 60 dietitians at the University of Virginia Health System in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. At this level one trauma center, dietitians play an integral role on multidisciplinary teams in many specialty areas, both in the 600 bed inpatient setting, as well in over 35 outpatient clinics. RDs participate in research and quality improvement projects, host dietetic interns, and are supported in pursuing leadership and community service experiences. Continuing education opportunities are plentiful from within the accomplished nutrition team and from the health system which values ongoing training and education.

This full-time, 40 hr/wk position will join our pediatric team of 12 RDs. This position will work primarily in our pediatric outpatient clinics in the Battle Building at UVA, collaborating with our team of nine outpatient pediatric RDs, and various interdisciplinary teams, to serve patients with a variety of needs. The position will also include some pediatric inpatient coverage..

Key Responsibilities:

+ Provides medical nutrition therapy including nutrition assessment, diet modification, nutrition education, and intervention for the patient population

+ Follows all guidelines as outlined within the Company Diet Manual and the Clinical Nutrition Policies & Procedures Manual

+ Complies with all regulatory standards to include federal, state, and accrediting agencies while adhering to facility confidentiality, HIPPA regulations, and patient rights policies

+ Qualifications:

+ Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

+ Licensed by the State Dietetics Licensing/Credentialing Board, in states where required

+ One (1) year of hospital experience, preferred

+ Possess the necessary skills to effectively utilize Microsoft office applications, electronic medical record & diet office systems, and nutrient analysis programming

+ Trains and mentor’s patient services staff and interns as applicable

+ Participates in patient satisfaction programs, departmental meetings, and facility wide Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement programs
