The Biomarker Development (BMD) group at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is seeking a Senior Imaging Expert to join our Clinical and Precision Medicine Imaging team and actively provide strategic, scientific, technical and operational leadership on the optimal use of molecular imaging in drug development. In this role, you’ll join an imaging team with deep expertise in structural and molecular biomarkers and their application in clinical and translational development. You will interact with clinical trial teams to establish the role of imaging endpoints along novel biological mechanisms across diverse therapeutic areas. The role offers a wide view of molecules across various stages as they transition from research to early development and subsequently to Ph2-3 trials. As a part of building imaging endpoints, the role also provides unique exposure to variety of other critical biomarkers (soluble and genetics) for an integrated view of identifying unique patient populations and novel readouts of efficacy and safety. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Develop and execute end-to-end “fit for purpose” molecular imaging strategies across portfolio: radioligand therapy (RLT), neuroscience (NS), metabolic diseases, etc. • Partner with stakeholders and teams across divisions and all stages of drug development (from research to post launch) • Act as an internal expert for PET, SPECT, and development of imaging agents with focus on utility in clinical trials • Implement developed imaging strategy in clinical trials, to deliver critical, decision-making data on efficacy, safety, mechanism of action • Identify and/or develop novel imaging techniques and implement in clinical trials • Collaborate and execute imaging readouts with internal operational support and external contract research organizations (CRO) • Ensure quality and timely execution of imaging trials to deliver critical drug development decisions • Interpret imaging data in the context of a disease • Develop and manage network of external experts (KOLs); be able to synthesize various inputs and provide custom, protocol specific recommendations \n\n\n\n **Position Title:** Senior Clinical Molecular Imaging Expert **Role Requirements:** What you’ll bring to the role: • PhD or MD or MD/PhD with 7 years of experience in PET/SPECT Imaging in academia, hospital or industry • In-depth technical knowledge in PET, SPECT as applied to in-life readouts (pre-clinic and clinic) • Expertise in use of molecular imaging tools and readouts in radioligand therapy (RLT) and/or neuroscience (NS) Clinical Trials • Understand the use of molecular imaging across different stages of drug development • Passion to drive for results and success with a sense of urgency. Willing to be held accountable and take personal responsibility for outcomes • Strong understanding of clinical trial design, statistics for endpoints and clinical data flow • Experience with clinical protocol writing across various line functions • Should be excited to work in a highly matrixed, highly supportive organization • Ability to balance external science (eg literature, KOL inputs) with optimal needs in projects • Demonstrated track record of innovative research Preferred Qualifications: • Industrial Experience in clinical trial & translational research is highly desirable esp in Leadership roles • Hands-on expertise in Radiochemistry and novel ligand development from bench to clinic • Experience in Regulatory submission and interaction with Health Authorities • Track record of project management and experience working with imaging CROs • Understanding of sites, budgets and experience with multisite trials Why consider Novartis? The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $136,000 - $205,000/ year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
