**A Day in the Life**
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be a member of the new product development team that supports the design and development of innovative products within the Surgical Innovations business. MITG: The Minimally Invasive Therapies Group strives to enable earlier diagnosis, better treatment, faster complication-free recovery, and enhanced patient outcomes through less invasive surgical solutions. SURGICAL INNOVATIONS sets the standard for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) by creating innovative surgical products and services that focus on obesity and diseases and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, lung, abdominal wall, pelvic region, and the head and neck.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
+ Designs, implements, and tests software for medical device products
+ Leads software project teams and / or major features
+ Mentors engineers in their area(s) of expertise
+ Participates in requirements gathering, estimating and planning
+ Creates documentation throughout the development process
+ Works with other disciplines to develop system-minded implementations that take into account safety, performance, communication, user interface and other aspects of a final product
+ Commits to achieving and exceeding project goals and timelines
+ Performs duties in compliance with the Quality System
**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelors degree required
+ Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
**Nice to Have**
+ Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
+ 7+ years experience with C/C++ in a Linux development environment
+ Experience architecting software systems
+ Experience in embedded Linux and real-time applications
+ Knowledge of OOAD
+ Working knowledge of software development best practices
+ Real time video processing experience
+ Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning background
+ Medical device experience
