Sr Employee Relations Manager

Our Opportunity:

As a Senior Employee Relations (ER) Manager, you will be part of Chewy’s ER Center of Excellence (COE), which provides specific expertise in the areas of employee relations, investigations, and risk management for one of the fastest growing and most dynamic companies in e-commerce today. You will conduct fair, unbiased, and consistent investigations in response to a wide range of team member issues and escalations. You will provide recommendations and insight to local HR teams related to employee relations matters and provide critical input into the formation of consistent application of policies across Chewy. You will work in close partnership with Chewy’s Legal team to escalate allegations and concerns that pose substantial risks to the company. By using your deep expertise in conducting employee relations investigations, you will be able to focus on a customer-first approach with the ability to accelerate time and thrive in a fast-paced business environment. This position may require travel.

What You’ll Do:

+ Thoroughly and expeditiously conduct fair, un-biased and consistent investigations related to complex team member allegations and concerns that could implicate significant legal, regulatory, financial, or other risks including but not limited to harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace violence, and other violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

+ Provide recommendations for the appropriate course of action based on the outcome of investigations.

+ Use excellent interviewing, interpersonal, and documentation techniques and utilize the designated online case management tool (i.e., Navex) for reporting, documenting, and tracking investigations.

+ Partner with Legal team for issue escalation and training HR team members in conducting thorough investigations in compliance with company policies and procedures.

+ Engage and participate in projects and initiatives related to employee relations investigations.

+ Provide critical input to the formation, consistent application, and revision of policies across the company based upon your investigation findings and recommendations.

+ Review investigation cases and issue trend data and provide actionable feedback to legal, HRBP teams, and senior leaders to reduce overall risk in the organization.

+ Support the evolution and improvement of the ER framework (process, tools, guides, etc.) for managing internal allegations and claims for conducting, appropriately reporting and documenting investigations and other employee relations matters.

+ Uphold the highest level of accountability and maintain credibility throughout the organization, ensuring strict adherence to the integrity of and sensitivity in handling all aspects of private data and confidential matters.

What You’ll Need:

+ Degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, JD, or other related field.

+ 7+ years of progressive employee relations experience, including extensive experience in conducting workplace investigations.

+ Preferred in an international e-commerce or distribution centers organization or experience in the veterinary or pharmaceutical industry.

+ Extensive knowledge of federal and state employment law (i.e., Wage and Hour regulations, state leave regulations, ADA, FMLA, etc.), as well as Labor Relations, and standard methodologies in conducting workplace investigations.

+ Experience working with HR information systems (i.e., Workday) and investigation case management software (i.e., Navex).

+ Impeccable written and verbal interpersonal communication skills with the ability to utilize exceptional active listening skills to determine issues and formulate and ask appropriate follow up questions.

+ Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement and handle difficult or volatile situations/individuals effectively and to mediate in situations where required.

+ Experience creating and conducting training related to ER investigations and compliance, driven by investigative best practices and company policies and procedures.

+ Ability to interface and partner with HR and non-HR stakeholders to achieve results.

+ Strong creative problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and intuitive sense of business acumen.

+ Ability to execute and prioritize multiple overlapping tasks with high attention to detail, reliability, and efficiency.

+ Ability to work into the evenings and weekends as business requires.

+ Experience with Union and Non-Union organizations a plus.
