SCOPE OF POSITION
The Phlebotomist, Certified will perform blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups, following published laboratory standards/guidelines. This individual will consistently adhere to requirements for specimen collection requirements, processing and handling of all lab tests to include blood cultures, and other reference lab tests. The Phlebotomist will be proficient in all required computer functions to document accurate specimen collection, etc. This individual will have comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety required. Additionally, the Phlebotomist will be responsible to perform CLIA waived testing and clerical duties in a physician office setting.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must be certified by a nationally accredited phlebotomy program such as ASCP, ASPT, NACCLS, or NPT. In lieu of certification, must have ten years phlebotomy experience which is equivalent to certification. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, to interact effectively with all patients and their families.
Valid and active Phlebotomist certification required or
Valid and active Emergency Medical Services certification required
AHA BLS required
