Honeywell PMT is currently seeking a Lead Hardware/Instrumentation Design Engineer to join the tea in Baton Rouge LA.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Experience in specification and application of Sensing Elements/Transmitters and final Control Elements, Pneumatics, Hydraulic and SCADA, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) systems.
+ Knowledge designing instrumentation systems in an industrial plant environment with respect to operability, maintainability, and accessibility.
+ Understand and interpret engineering drawings; have capability of directing the development of drawings.
+ Knowledge of electronic instrumentation, and understand the basics of use and application of pneumatic instrumentation and controls.
+ Experience in the following: writing Capital Appropriation Requests for your area of expertise, Pre-Startup Safety reviews (PSSR’s), Management of Change (MOC), scoping, design, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), installation, startup assistance, Metrics must be met regarding safety, schedules and budgets. Provide assistance in writing lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) plans to ensure safety during construction and turnarounds.
+ Have the skills to specify instrumentation, and size and check sizing calculations for instrumentation including protective devices.
+ Develop/support instrumentation/control system cost estimates, scheduling and manpower loading activities
+ Interpret vendor packages and develop an integration plan
+ Knowledge and application of Fieldbus systems.
+ Ability to work with the process team to develop Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s) and control strategies.
+ Understanding of electrical area classifications and compliance methods (enclosure, intrinsically safe, purging, etc.)
+ Develop/review control system user requirements specification (URS) and site acceptance testing (SAT).
+ Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) reviews
+ Develop/review construction bid specifications for control system and instrument installation.
+ Knowledge of SIL levels and application of safety instrumented systems.
+ Adopt and leverage PMT Standards. Maintain or support any site specific requirements, if necessary

+ Establish relationships with key suppliers to support plant requirements and introduce new products.
+ Owner or participant in the development and revisions of Instrumentation and Control Standard Operating Procedures.
+ Provide direction to contractors, maintenance and designers, as required. Ensure consistency in drawings and equipment on out-sourced engineering work.
+ Ensure QA/QC requirements are met for capital installations.
+ Provide project scoping input to ensure accurate and efficient materials and methods are utilized.
+ Manage the execution of the instrumentation aspects of a project through engineering/design and construction, while integrating plant personnel to ensure results that meet the needs of the plant sponsors
+ Knowledgeable of document management and document control systems (Documentum and AM Meridian).
YOU MUST HAVE
+ BS Degree in Electrical / Instrument / Controls Engineering field of study required.
+ Minimum 12 years of combined experience in Process Control, Instrument Design, and/or developmental design engineering within an industrial manufacturing environment and engineering design house required
+ Willingness to travel minimum of 25%.
+ Knowledge of SmartPlant/INtools or other instrumentation database a plus.
+ Ability to interface with all disciplines; process, electrical, project, mechanical, etc.
+ Develop relationship with Procurement representatives.
+ Drive non-capital solutions and alternative analyses.
+ Direct a strong safety awareness program with consistent implementation of policies and procedures.
+ Achieve World Class Safety performance on all site related work.
+ Work with teams of engineers, maintenance, materials management, and operations employees to plan, assist in the development and implementation of a strategy that improves safety, quality, reliability, and process control.
+ Champion innovation and new technologies.
+ Industrial environment work experience preferred with a basic understanding of chemical processes or related field.
+ Experience using SAP is desired.
+ Ability to ensure safety with respect to the implementation of projects.
+ Experience in preventive maintenance, commissioning of new systems, testing with
pass/fail criteria, coordination study reviews, troubleshooting, LOTO and MOC.
+ Adhere to engineering standards when ordering/installing equipment.
