**Title:** Engineer, Distribution Design
**Location:** Atlanta, GA
**Reports to:** Senior Manager, Distribution
The qualified candidate will be responsible for optimizing current and any new distribution centers at Newell Brands. Optimization to include developing block design, overall layout, process and material flows, and evaluation/implementation of automation equipment. Candidate will also provide data analysis in support of all designed processes in order to achieve facility goals and objectives in areas of service, cost, quality, and safety. In addition, he/she will also be responsible for establishing processes and procedures to deliver efficiency and effectiveness by optimizing the use of people, process, and technology to achieve service excellence and minimize cost. Must combine technical abilities, problem solving, communication, group dynamic and business skills to analyze, design, build, manage and change distribution processes, systems, and equipment.
**Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Leads and participates in initiatives to improve processes, methods, equipment, and systems to drive operational excellence.
+ Analyze and provide solutions for distribution centers through data analysis.
+ Compiles total cost and benefit of proposed capital projects including evaluation of effect on labor, equipment, space, fill rates, accuracy, and other metrics.
+ Provides thought leadership and exploration in materials handling methodologies & equipment, materials flow, information systems, and capacity utilization.
+ Maintains a pulse on the automation industry through research and developing relationships with strategic vendors/partners. He/she will provide regular automation industry updates to distribution senior leaders
+ Design and recommend layouts and product flows in the distribution center.
+ Identify operational bottlenecks and develop, analyze and present cost efficient solutions.
+ Serves as technical expert on specialized projects or programs
+ Supports the development of technical documentation (including but not limited to designs, testing, calculations, reports, standards, etc.) Utilizes and may assist with the development of procedures.
+ Provides ongoing technical support for project activities within areas such as Operations, Maintenance, Testing/diagnostics, Regulatory, etc. May provide field engineering oversight for activities such as commissioning, testing, inspections
+ Supports bid/evaluation processes by performing basic analysis and calculations on existing documentation and materials that support the preparation of bid documents. In completing segments of technical evaluations for proposals may need to effectively communicate with other business areas of the company following appropriate processes.
+ Effectively exchanges information in all formats, on matters having a wide range of importance and complexity both inter-organizationally and with outside customer/vendors.
+ May coordinate the work of external partners
**Education and Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
+ 5-10 years’ experience improving processes, equipment, and systems in a warehousing & DC environment
+ Successful implementation of multiple projects with budgets of $1MM+ Excellent interpersonal skills
+ Intermediate proficiency in CAD (preferred)
+ Demonstrated ability to Lead and serve as resource on Project Teams
+ Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills.
+ Strong Project Management, professional attitude and approach, and the ability to interact with all levels within the organization.
+ Ability to manage, drive and accept accountability for project progress and quality, and achieve stated goals.
+ Excellent Computer Skills. High level of proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio) and AutoCAD
+ Understanding of WMS capabilities & functionality, Manhattan Associates WM I – series highly preferred.
