Business Planner

Come join our team as a Business Planner in the New Commerce and Commercial Strategy Team at Microsoft. This team is at the forefront of how Microsoft licenses and monetizes its innovative commercial products and services, ranging from Productivity and Business Processes (e.g., Office 365, Microsoft 365, Copilot for Microsoft 365), Intelligent Cloud (e.g., Azure, Windows Server, SQL Server), and More Personal Computing (e.g., Windows and Windows 365).

As a Business Planner focused on Licensing Strategy, you will be responsible for creating and implementing strategic business designs, developing and bringing new monetization constructs to market, and crafting business rules that apply to Microsoft’s products and services. You will work across product, marketing, legal, and finance teams, and with other Business Planners to understand product strategy, collaborate on optimizing licensing and monetization approaches, and then work to codify and implement them through business rules. You will be involved with some of the most strategic and competitive issues facing Microsoft.

This is a key role that provides you with deep insight into how Microsoft monetizes its intellectual property. You will also need to stay abreast of new technology trends and business models to ensure that Microsoft’s licensing remain relevant

and effective.

**Responsibilities**

In this role, some of the initiatives you’ll work on include:

+ Monetizing our services in ways that align with new sales motions and emerging cloudinfrastructure and productivity solutions;

+ Publishing monthly use rights to clearly articulate our business rules and licensing policieson time and error free;

+ Speeding up the customer purchase process by developing guidance and insights to help ourfield and customers consume our licensing faster;

+ Increasing our agility to strategically evaluate and bring targeted business models to marketfaster;

+ Making it easier and simpler for large customers to buy multiple Microsoft solutions together,in an integrated manner;

+ Modernizing the way in which customers interact with the output of our team by givingsignificant input into and managing projects with external vendors; and

+ Engaging directly with senior executives and other stakeholders to get feedback and adjustlicensing designs.

**Qualifications**

**Required/Minimum Qualifications**

+ 3+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience

+ OR equivalent experience.

**Additional or Preferred Qualifications**

+ 5+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field

+ OR 3+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degrees with business experience is a plus

Business Planning IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $80,900 - $162,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $105,300 - $176,900 per year.
