The experienced CNA candidate for this position will have had past experiences of working as a CNA, staff scheduling, answering telephones, assisting visitors; and will have the ability to be professional, positive, task-oriented/time regimented, and be willing to be a team player. This position entails working five days per week, from 7:30 am – 1:00 pm. Potential for On-Call opportunities.

CNA POSITION SUMMARY:
The CNA is responsible for assisting in the direct care of residents under the direction of a licensed nurse in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and Deerfield standards to ensure the highest quality care at all times.
CNA WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Works throughout facility (i.e., resident rooms, therapy rooms, dietary).
•Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
•Involved with residents, associates, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc. under all conditions and circumstances.
•Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
•Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends, holidays, on different shifts, different assignments, and/or level of care as necessary.
•Attends and participates in continuing education programs.
•Subject to frequent interruptions, falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day.
•Possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
•Will be required to wear PPE that can consist of (disposable gloves, masks, gowns, face shields, shoe covers, gait belts, mech-lifts)
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
•Must be listed as active on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry, and in good standing
•Must be currently registered/licensed with applicable state.
•Must have 12 hours of continuing education each year, to include annual trainings required by state agencies
•One year of geriatric nursing preferred.
•May be requested to have CPR certification during employment. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
CNA SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
•Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
•Must be knowledgeable of nurse aide practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing nurse aide functions in the long-term care facility, including understanding of and participation in QAPI as needed.
•Must possess ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
•Must be willing to participate in QAPI, assist in the development and implementation of programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the nursing department.
•Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and complaint procedures.
CNA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
•Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
•Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
•Must be able to take direction from the nurse as it relates to daily function of the unit and resident care.
•Must be able to chart appropriately, timely and accurately in accordance with all facility policies
•Must be able to administer clinical services within the nurse aide scope of practice.
•Must be able to assist in emergency situations related to resident and staff safety in a designated capacity.
•Must practice dependable, regular attendance.
•Must be able to lift 40 lbs floor to waist; lift 10 lbs waist to shoulder; lift and carry 40 lbs; and push/pull 40 lbs.
