Job Summary
Plans, coordinates, and evaluates the clinical and operational functions of the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab  to ensure quality, cost effective health care is provided by an educated and competent staff.

Essential Functions
  • Maintains responsibility for the EP program equipment including needs analysis, acquisition and maintenance.
  • Coordinates the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Organizes and coordinates all functions to provide for a smooth cost efficient operation.
  • Delegates effectively and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes.
  • Assists with procedures and administers medications under the supervision of the physician.
  • Assumes responsibility for the Cath, EP, Vascular, Cardiology, and the holding areas in the absence of the area supervisor.
  • assumes responsibility for Risk Management coordination and Failed Medical Device analysis, including product safety recall management. Maintains database for tracking of all failed medical devices per CHS policy.
  • Manages all purchasing activities, with emphasis upon ordering, maintenance, and cost control of supply inventory. Maintains consignment and purchased inventory. Also responsible for supply contract maintenance.
  • Provides work-up, calculations and completes CAWP and other associated forms for Capital Projects. Works closely with Architecture Project Manager on all Cath Lab projects.
  • Implements and troubleshoots ancillary information systems, such as Witt and Medcon, and coordinates computer networking with other departments.
Physical Requirements
Intermittent to rapid pace with high pressure situations, requiring periods of prolonged concentration and critical thinking. Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 50 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak, write and understand English in good understandable terms. Intact sense of sight, hearing, touch, manual dexterity, and good eye hand coordination. Standing and walking while wearing 10-20 lbs lead radiation protection aprons. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Potential exposure to radiation, secretions and blood. Confined work area.

Education, Experience and Certifications
Associates Degree required. Bachelors Degree preferred. Registered Nurse with EP experience or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or Registered Electrophysiology (EP) Specialist Lab credential required. Minimum 2 years experience in EP  Lab required. Previous management experience preferred. BLS and ACLS required.
