Position Summary
The temporary career coach will meet one-on-one with UNC Asheville students and alumni to provide comprehensive career coaching on topics including (but not limited to): choosing a major, exploring career options, administering and interpreting assessments, resume and cover letter writing/editing, job search skills, how to locate and understand information related to careers, networking, applying to graduate school, and connecting with employers and alumni.
Coaching to include both hour-long appointments and 15-30 minute drop-in questions. Will occasionally provide workshops and in class presentations.

Minimum Education/Experience/Skills
Masters in Student Development, Counseling, or related field.
A minimum 2 years experience providing one-on-one career coaching or counseling. Related experience considered.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ideal candidate will be able to quickly develop rapport and trust with students and alumni.
The ideal candidate will also be able to utilize career assessments, both formal and informal, including StrengthsFinder, Strong Interest Inventory and MBTI .
The candidate will also be able to assess students and alumni to determine need and knows when to refer out or consult with colleagues.
The candidate will understand social and economic issues facing current undergraduate students as they make career decisions.
In addition, the candidate understands and articulates the benefits of liberal arts education and the positions available to liberal arts majors.
Experience with Handshake or other Career Center tool a plus.
