Director - Laboratory

Located adjacent to the Texas Medical Center, Park Plaza and Plaza Specialty Hospitals offer the convenience of a community hospital with two distinct purposes. Since 1975, Park Plaza Hospital has been offering complete medical services, including surgery as well as outpatient, imaging and rehabilitation. Plaza Specialty Hospital, a hospital within a hospital, has been providing long-term acute care to those needing prolonged hospitalization and recovery since 1994.

Park Plaza and Plaza Specialty Hospital is currently looking for a Director - Laboratory.

  • Responsible for all functions of the clinical laboratory and pathology, including ensuring compliance with all accrediting agencies, hospital infection control, safety, and education policies.
  • Responsible for personnel management, purchasing of supplies and equipment, preparation of financial and budget reports.
  • Sets an example for all laboratory employees as it pertains to customer satisfaction, leadership, and cooperation with other departments in the hospital.
  • Communicates effectively with administration, pathologists, physicians, other department directors and employees.
  • Performs laboratory testing as necessary and is Clinical sound in analyzing general laboratory concerns.
  • Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the neonate, infant child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology required
  • Master's Degree in Health Sciences preferred
  • Seven years of experience in a clinical laboratory
  • Three years of experience in management
  • Proven technical ability
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • MT (ASCP) or equivalent
