Clinical Nurse Manager



JOB SUMMARY

Manages both clinical and administrative functions within the practice. Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of the policies, procedures, regulations of nursing programs and an effective supervisory technique(s). Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment. Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. As needed, performs professional nursing care activities and accommodates services for the physicians and the practice, following established standards, practices, policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assigns all nursing staff and select administrative staff. Manages nursing hours by staggering start and stop times. Performs all reviews on the clinical staff (RNs administrative functions only are evaluated, if Manager holds LPN credential) and administrative staff. Manages all time and attendance and overtime usage. May srve as OSHA compliance officer for the practice. Interviews and select new hires. Performs all clinical supervision of fellows while in clinic and tracks patients seen by the fellows, if applicable. Facilitates and tracks all research patients for studies performed in-house, if applicable. May serve as the Lab Supervisor and COLA Compliance Officer. In absence of Practice Manager, may cover for this position.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to sit 60% of the time; Able to walk, climb, stand, turn, twist, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, lift at least 25 lbs, carry, finger, hold, talk, see with a good field of vision, and hear; Communicate on the telephone and directly with patients; read paperwork, printouts and computer screens; Requires manual dexterity sufficient to maintain files, operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other small desk equipment and computer.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
  • License Practical Nurse required. Registered Nurse preferred.
  • Two to four years of professional nursing experience, physician office preferred.
  • Previous management experience in a group practice environment
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.

    CERTIFICATE/LICENSE
  • Current, valid Florida State Nursing License.
  • CPR Certified.
