Job Summary
Supervises team to ensure that the operations of the Kidney and Pancreas, Liver and Heart are operating well. Assesses plans, coordinates and evaluates the clinical and clerical operations to ensure quality, cost-effective health care is provided by an educated and competent team. Promotes a safe environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the age, developmental stages and special needs of the patients served.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinates the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
  • Ensures that the operations and teammates are in compliance with national transplant standards, Nursing Practice Act, regulatory agency standards to include UNOS, CMS, TJC, and policies and procedures as defined by the Transplant Center.
  • Accepts responsibility and accountability for total functioning of clinical area and quality of care provided.
  • Performs managerial aspects of the transplant program to include: counseling, budget, staffing, scheduling, quality assessment, problem solving, delegation, evaluations, and employment selection.
  • Develops yearly goals and objectives. Plans and presents in-service programs and team meetings, and provides supervision/evaluation of patient care and processes.
  • Coordinates the collection, analysis, and presentation of clinical statistical data.
  • Participates with performance improvement activities to improve quality of care, promote patient outcomes, and provide cost-effective environment for patient care.
  • Reviews and follows-up on timely completion of all UNOS mandated data forms.
  • Serves as a liaison between physicians and team members.
  • Serves as primary contact for Assistant Vice President. Address concerns and suggestions for program growth with Assistant Vice President.
Physical Requirements
Fast-paced clinic and inpatient setting. Involves standing, walking and bending.

Education, Experience and Certifications
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing required. Current NC Board of Nursing License required. BSN required. Minimum of 5 years nursing experience which includes critical and acute care and at least one of the following: end stage organ disease or solid organ transplantation required.
