Clinical Educator & Staff Development - Cardiovascular Institute - For the System
Florida Hospital Orlando seeks to hire a Clinical Educator who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Facility Profile:
Established in 1908, Florida Hospital is one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare systems in the country, caring for more than a million patients each year. Department Profile:
The Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) encompasses all eight of our Florida Hospital campuses in the central Florida area. CVI consists of 25 cardiac catheterization labs that perform diagnostic and interventional procedures at our different FH campuses. These procedures can include: Diagnostic catheterizations, PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention), PVI (peripheral vascular intervention) and EPS (electrophysiology studies) procedures. The campuses also have non-invasive components that include: echo, ekg, stress lab and cardiac rehab. This position is responsible for ensuring the standardization of education and onboarding of our CVI team members in collaboration with our CVI System Non-Invasive educator.

M - F/ 8 -5

Job Summary:
The System Cardiovascular Clinical Educator is responsible for facilitating the development of system clinical education through active participation in orientation, training, on-going staff development and evaluation of clinical practice for all levels of personnel served. Participates in the development of formal and informal education programs and activities to communicate policy revision and organizational goals and improve standards and performance expectations. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel
  • Effective, professional communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to communicate appropriately to all levels of staff, nursing leadership and executive leadership
  • Self-directed, creative, initiative to develop educational programs
  • Knowledge and application of leadership principles and management skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Previous teaching experience in formal/informal settings
  • At least 1 year in a management role
  • Master of Science degree in Nursing or in related field (e.g., MBA, MHA) (preferred)
  • 3-5 years experience in education (preferred)
  • 1-3 years in lead or management role (preferred)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
  • Current, valid State of Florida license as a registered professional nurse
  • ACLS Instructor
  • Certification as Nursing Professional Development Educator (e.g., certification by the National Nurse Staff Development Organization) - preferred

  • EDUCATION CREATION: Utilizes principles of education and adult learning to provide opportunities and experiences for professional growth consistent with the Novice to Expert continuum. Utilizes the process of systematic inquiry to develop educational activities. Integrates published research and current literature to develop and implement learning activities. Promotes continuous improvement. Collaborates to implement change.
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Responsible for assigned system clinical education/projects including, but not limited to, education for regulatory compliance and system priorities. Organizes, facilitates and oversees quarterly education, including annual competencies for assigned job groups.
  • CAMPUS LIAISON: Serves as a liaison to all campuses for educational consultation, orientation of new campus educators and conducts campus rounds to oversee system and unit education. Assists campus educators with education initiatives as needed, including delegation of assigning education assistance duties to system educators.
  • INFORMAL LEADER: Though not a direct report, oversees daily work of assigned administrative assistant. Delegates work as appropriate.
  • TEAM PLAYER: Assists, as needed, with training and orientation programs skills, American Heart Association provider training and new campus/system educator orientation.
  • ORIENTATION (as applicable): Responsible for orientation and onboarding of all levels and specialties of staff, including and as applicable Medical Surgical, Progressive Care, Intensive Care and the Emergency Department. Individualizes, plans, implements and evaluates orientation programs in response to healthcare trends, staff learning needs and organizational goals. For job class RE54, responsible for orientation and onboarding of mid-level/informal leaders, including charge nurse, assistant nurse manager, educator, preceptor and mentor.
