General Statement of Duties:

The Cardiac Cath Lab Director provides leadership and overall responsibility for the functions of assigned clinical patient care/procedural units to include Cardiac Cath and Electrophysiology Labs. Directs 24/7 operations with full accountability. Ensures proper inventory supplies, scheduling of personnel, maintaining high standards of quality, customer service, staff development, and is an effective physician liaison.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:


1. Education and Experience: ONE of the following:

A. (Non-RN)- Bachelor’s degree AND 2 years management experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or related area

B. (Non-RN)- High school diploma or GED and ONE of the following:

i. Four (4) years of Cardiac Cath Lab management experience

ii. A combination of four (4) years post high school education and

Cardiac Cath Lab management experience.

C. RNs: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Note: Current MHS employees who completed a Nursing Diploma or Associates
in Nursing degree program that are currently in a Nurse Director position have
until 1/1/2014 to meet BSN education requirements.

2. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).

3. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:

ONE of the following:
A. Have or obtain RCIS Certificate within 6 months of hire date
B. License to practice professional registered nursing in the state of Texas
