Key Holder for New Outdoor Retail Store

Are you someone who loves the great outdoors, enjoys working with people, and eager to make yourself a vital member to our close knit sales team?

We are opening outdoor retail store in West Asheville, and we need a right hand employee to get excited about this new beginning! The below responsibilities will serve as your initial role; however, we are looking for an ideal candidate interested in growing into an Assistant Management position. After 3 months time, we will re-evaluate employee capability to advance to full time Assistant Manager.

Start Date: ASAP

Pay: $10-12/hr, based on experience

Hours: Up to 29 hrs/week

Core Responsibilities

  • Opening/Closing Store

    • Locking/Unlocking store

    • Closing/Opening cash drawer

    • Ensuring entire store is ready for customers

    • Depositing cash after close

  • Offering excellent customer service

    • Assisting customers in store

    • Answering phones

    • Answering questions on online social accounts/website

  • Working sales floor

    • Learning all products to educate customers and future employees

    • Merchandising:maintaining product displays, and planning display of new products

  • Running cash register

  • Inventory Management

    • Keeping track for restocking low levels

    • Awareness of slow moving inventory

  • Running boat pick ups from warehouse to store location

  • Assisting with events

    • Planning/day of assistance

    • Serving alcohol when we decide to open bar

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred

  • Basic knowledge of kayaking – terminology is most important

  • Ability to resolve customer complaints in a professional, level headed manner

  • Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in person or by phone

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively

Welcomed Experience

  • Retail experience

  • Fishing, boating, or kayaking experience

  • Capable with tools - offering boat accessory installations/repairs is in near future

Schedule Requirements/Info

  • Ability to work weekends

    • This will consistently be on your schedule, though opportunity to request off will be considered in advance

  • At least two full days within the week, you will be scheduled off
