The employee(s) hired for this position will serve as part of a temporary pool of reserve Police Officers for UNC Asheville.
As a central part of the university community, the mission of University Police is to contribute to and promote the greater mission of UNC Asheville by facilitating a safe, secure and service-oriented environment for all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors. They do this by offering crime prevention programs to promote safety, and deter criminal activity. University Police Officers' conduct various law enforcement activities, including patrolling within the geographic jurisdiction, conducting criminal investigations, crime prevention, assisting motorists, parking/traffic control and providing security at special events.
$15.00 per hour

High school diploma or equivalency. Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission or the ability to achieve certification within one year of employment.
Current possession of North Carolina BLET Certification. The preferred candidate will have at least two years of campus law enforcement experience.

Possession of a designated level of technical skill or knowledge in a specific technical area(s) and the ability to keep up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
Ability to present information to individuals or groups; ability to deliver presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience. Position requires certification as a law enforcement officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission or the ability to achieve certification within one year. Valid driver's license required at the time of application. Valid North Carolina driver's license required prior to appointment.
Selected candidate must undergo an extensive background investigation including, but not limited to, psychological evaluation, medical exam, and drug screen. Skill demonstrations may be asked of all applicants interviewed.
