Job Description



Local Fairfield Manufacturer is seeking a Graphic Artist. Candidate will report to the Creative Services Department and under the direction of the Director of Creative Services, creates and designs computer graphics art and copy layouts for various packaging, promotional and corporate marketing design programs by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Must be strong in design for consideration. Submitting a portfolio demonstrating ability is required.
Expert working knowledge of key graphic programs, including but not limited to: Creative Suites Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign and Word.
Packaging design experience is strongly recommended.
Recommends opportunities for the use of illustrations, photographs, and text to plan presentations of materials, products, or services.
Per assigned creative projects, creates art files based on direction from the Director of Creative Services regarding size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, style and size of type.
Creates and develops design and layout options based upon available space and aesthetic design concepts.
Creates digital layouts and/or rough illustration sketches of material based on direction from the Director of Creative Services.
Creates and develops packaging design, point-of-purchase and collateral materials based on direction from the Director Creative Services.
In support of Graphics Production designer assembles final layouts to prepare layouts for printer as needed.
Attends press checks as needed.
Responsible for file proofing assigned projects with a keen attention to details.
Directs and organizes internal and external studio and location photography sessions.
Creates, prints, cuts, and assembles comprehensive proofs, live and JPEG mock-ups as needed.
Possess a reasonable level of technical artistic background (i.e. clear understanding of color and design theories, a demonstrated ability to draw, etc.)
Assumes lead position in performing file searches, Internet research and scanning and/or preparing digital files and proofing of all related artwork.
Provides Graphic Designer I with materials for scanning of physical images per creative Services Requests (CSR) and or as directed by the Director of Creative Services.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor''s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and three (3) to to five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An equivalency of education could possibly fulfill formal degree requirements. Possesses a reasonable level of technical artistic background (i.e. clear understanding of color and design theories, a demonstrated ability to draw, etc).
