Job Description

Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Events & Conferences, the employee in this position will serve as the lead for large-scale university events and ceremonies such as Commencement, Convocation, Installation and Lectures. The position will also serve as the primary liaison with academic affairs for planning, scheduling and/or support of faculty-led events and conferences. Duties include but are not limited to, serving on various planning committees, regularly meeting with department chairs to determine event planning and/or support purposes. The Coordinator will also be responsible for the technical production of cultural events and other assigned events. Additionally, the employee will be responsible for event/conference management for other events/conferences as assigned. Excellent teamwork and customer service skills are necessary to be successful in this position.

Minimum Education/Experience/Skills
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
Bachelor's degree in Communication, Business, Management or related field. Five years' experience in event planning, conference/meeting management or related field. Strong customer service skills and high level of detail orientation are essential. Superior written and verbal communication skills. Able to demonstrate successful experience planning, coordinating, directing and managing aspects of complex events and conference operations, and creating calendars and schedules for multiple, concurrent conferences and events. Demonstrated ability to successfully perform job duties in fast-paced, flexible, changing office and in multiple event and conference settings.

Work Schedule and Hours
Normal office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but extended afternoon, evening, and weekend work is normal and required to be successful in this position. Office hours may be adjusted to meet the work schedule of this position. Travel may be required by the position.
