Job Summary
Provides operational support for the functions of the Health Information Management/ Coding department.

Essential Functions

  • Monitors, compiles and reconciles Health Information Management Dollars not final billed (DNFB), combined coding, clinical documentation, clinical care, AR and failed claims reports daily.
  • Coordinates the DRG and coding denial letter process to include prioritizing, scanning, and creating denial records.
  • Perform follow up for coding payor denials, to include communicationg with third party payors.
  • Recieve and triage calls coming into the coding hotline.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable, budget and asset control processes.
  • Assist in assuring general covergae and coordination of activities in the administrative offices of HIM/Coding.
  • Performs patient type, admit and discharge date changes and routes to medical audit for billing corrections.
  • Monitors high dollar and other QDN reports and identifies any that are missing from coding task queues.
  • Reports any billing errors to medical audit and appropriate charging departments.
  • Assists in the prioritization of high dollar and CCM patient type review charts.
  • Coordinates flow of information between coding and other departments.
Physical Requirements
Works in a fast paced office setting and/or at home environment. Work requires good concentration. Must be physically able to move around the office daily and often. Must be able to lift up to ten pounds. Must be able to reach and bend on a moderate level.

Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma required.Previous medical records and/or patient accounting experience required. Courses in Excel, Word and Medical Terminology preferred.
