Role Summary: Supports patient safety program (system-wide) by assessing assigned events and collaborating with improvement teams. Reviews assigned complex patient safety events and uses clinical expertise to synthesize information and recommend appropriate follow-up. Provides data, reports and recommendations to improvement teams and Patient Safety Officers and ambulatory partners. Coaches, consults and educates staff and leaders in process improvement and development of culture of safety. Works with all levels of leadership and staff and collaborates with Risk Management, Accreditation, Corporate Safety, and Performance Improvement teams.

Facilitates ambulatory infection prevention and control activities with the primary goal of reducing risk of infections. Infection prevention and control activities include prevention procedures, policies, and initiatives with national standards and best practices, identify improvement opportunities, provide recommendations to ambulatory clinical areas, and facilitate implementation of best practices.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other related fields. If RN, Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Effective 3/1/18 Bachelor of Science in Nursing OR enroll in a BSN or advanced degree program within 6 months AND obtain a BSN within 4 years of hire date into RN position. Previous signed BSN commitment letter OR grandfathering will be accepted between departments and Mission Health entities. Exemptions may be approved with CNO System Council approval.

Preferred Education: Master's Degree in a related field. If RN, Masters in Nursing

Certificate: BLS Healthcare Provider

Required License/Certification(s): Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON.

Certification(s): National Certification in area of specialty

Required Experience: Four or more years of relevant clinical experience. Ability to extract data and information from medical record and use critical thinking to establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Knowledge of patient safety principles, national/local patient safety and accreditation standards and clinical best practices. Basic knowledge of human factors theory, systems improvement techniques and Performance Improvement methodologies. Demonstrated ability to facilitate process improvement initiatives for decreasing nosocomial infection. Proficiency in Microsoft suite of tools (to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and basic skills in reviewing, manipulating and analyzing data. Organizational skills, including ability to multitask and manage multiple projects with attention to detail. Excellent written, oral, and intrapersonal skills; ability to work effectively independently and in teams; ability to serve as change agent
