An affiliate of the UAB Cancer Community Network , Fort Walton offers a Cancer Care Center that is accredited by the Commission on Cancer Commission on Cancer. Fort Walton Beach Medical Center also provides advanced care for critically ill patients, including cardiovascular and trauma injury care, and emergency services, including a main ER , Pediatric ER and Express ER . Fort Walton Beach Medical Center is in partnership with Twin Cities Hospital, located in Niceville. We are the parent company of the Destin Emergency Care Center (DECC) and the Rehabilitation Institute, both located on Airport Road in Destin.

Assistant Administrator

Position Summary:
Provides administrative leadership and organizational direction, development, and implementation of services and programs within assigned areas. Supports and facilitates implementation of hospital strategies. Manages assigned departments efficiently and effectively to maximize quality of services, customer and patient service, and fiscal responsibility. Through appropriate management practices, creates a climate for employee motivation and high performance. Establishes direction, coaches employees, provides feedback, and builds commitment while managing and developing employees and leaders. Develops and fosters effective collaboration between medical staff leadership and other affiliated services to ensure an integrated approach to providing care and services. Promotes a professional image and acts as an ambassador inside and outside the organization. Takes ownership and demonstrates service excellence principles in all interactions with the patient, physician and others. Ensures patient's safety, dignity and privacy at all times. Acts as Co-Ethics and Compliance Officer.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for the development of improvement strategies that direct the patient experience while in the hospital, identify barriers to improvement, and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ensures compliance with all CMS and HCA internal policies and procedures (i.e. data security, user configuration/permissions, HIPPA, etc.).
  • Works with Administration Team to develop business strategies designed to meet organizational goals.
  • Monitors staff interpersonal transactions to insure application of customer service practices.
  • Maintains operational expenses within annual budget.
  • Identifies savings opportunities or revenue enhancements that add value to departmental or facility processes.
  • Maintains collaborative/cooperative relationships with others in the organization by sharing meaningful information, soliciting feedback and exhibiting respect and support. Integrates department's services with the hospital's primary function.
  • Is proactive in developing a network between and within departments.
  • Develops and updates department business plan and goals consistent with the facility's strategic business plan, mission and vision.
  • Review, interpret, and communicate relevant company policy updates.
  • Keep Leadership informed of the status of Ethics and Compliance issues
  • Ensures organization and department specific compliance with corporate requirements and requirements of all applicable (local, state and federal) agencies.
  • Assists in investigations resulting from calls to the corporate E&C line.
  • Develop and monitor performance indicators related to compliance.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health, Business Administration or a related field is required
  • Master's Degree in Health, Business Administration or a related field is strongly preferred

  • None

  • 3 to 5 years management experience in the health care field required.
