The 225-bed facility recently completed an $80-million expansion that includes a new Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Outpatient Services Unit, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and The Grossman Burn Center. Healthgrades (a leading independent health care rating company) announced that West Hills Hospital has received the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence for 2011 & 2012, the Clinical Excellence Award for Critical Care for 2012. West Hills Hospital was the first Accredited Chest Pain Center in Los Angeles County, and also recently received a Certificate of Distinction as a Primary Stroke Center from the Joint Commission.

Reports To: Vice President, Quality Services and Medical Staff Office

Summary: The Director of Medical Staff Services will be responsible for administering the medical staff credentialing, privileging, appointment and reappointment process, maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory agencies, i.e., Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC), California Department of Public Health (CDPH), DHS; federal and state regulations; bylaws, rules and regulations of the medical staff and hospitals and policies and procedures related to the medical staff.

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of West Hills Hospital and Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the values of West Hills Hospital and Medical Center and HCA. The employee shall support the hospital’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the performance improvement and patient safety plans. The employee will also be expected to support all organizational expectations including, but not limited to: Customer Service, Patient’s Rights, Confidentiality of Information, Environment of Care, Risk Management and HCA patient safety initiatives.



§ Baccalaureate degree required (healthcare-related degree preferred, Master’s degree preferred)

§ Current Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) with the National Association Medical Staff Services or ability to obtain within 12 months

§ Minimum of 5 years medical staff office experience in a hospital setting required

§ Minimum of 3 years medical staff leadership role required

§ Knowledge of State, Federal, and Joint Commission regulations

§ Working knowledge of accreditation process and standards, health care and credentialing industry, regulatory and legal requirements and other national standards

§ Demonstrated success and experience in medical staff services

§ Experience working with governance processes essential
