Job Description

Responsible for the day-to-day golf operation. This includes: golfers checking in, the Practice Range, pace of play, the Golf Shop, etc. The First Assistant is managerial level, and thus has authority to run the operation, as well as handle guest problems.

Responsibilities

  1. Maintain the day-to-day golf operation (this requires knowledge of golf specific jobs and their associated duties).
  2. Run tournaments and outings.
  3. Teach -- both individual and group lessons.
  4. Supervise, schedule, and train outside staff including: Cart staff, Player Assistants, and Starters.
  5. Assist Head Golf Professional and Merchandiser with merchandising duties.
  6. Maintenance of the Golf Handicap computer and associated records.
  7. Cover shop shifts as required.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Comply property policies and procedures.
  2. Communicate daily with staff and other departments in regard to duties and activities.
  3. Responsible for department and equipment cleanliness, safety and appearance.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Level I PGA Apprentice in good standing.
  • Two years experience as a managerial assistant professional.
  • Golf operation background.
  • Proven player and teacher of the game.
  • Management and organizational skills.
  • Computer knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on all levels.
