General Statement of Duties:
General Statement of Duties: The Director is responsible to the Chief Nursing Officer for the management of the areas/units in the department under his/her direction. This includes responsibility for the organization, coordination and direction of patient care services for patients admitted to this area and for participation in activities designed to increase patient census and control costs in these areas. She/he works cooperatively with administrators, physicians, staff, other directors, and all customers of the Methodist Healthcare System to provide services that consistently meet and exceed customer expectations.

Education :
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current registration as a professional nurse, in the State of Texas. Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred, Master Degree highly preferred.
  • Management, human relations, psychology, communication and adult education courses are desirable.
Experience :
  • Appropriate experience may be substituted with the approval of the Chief Nursing Officer of the hospital.
  • The Director must have a minimum of five years clinical experience. Additional clinical experience is desirable.
  • A minimum of five years administrative and/or supervisory experience is also required.
  • Three years experience with TQM and shared governance activities is desirable.
