Position Summary:
This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Medical Plaza & Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. This position supports the design, planning and construction process for a fast growing hospital with more six campuses. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Operations, the Design and Construction Manager provides management and ownership of all construction projects in any of the TMCA campuses.

The design and construction manager works in tandem with facility leadership to design, plan and oversee facility design and construction projects. Works creatively with the C-Suite to plan and price hospital and clinic construction projects. The manager will work with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to create and implement a project budget, and will be responsible for managing the budget throughout the duration of the project. This position will manage all contactors and vendors throughout the project from design to construction including reviewing and approving change orders within budgetary discretion. Manager will oversee construction documentation, timelines, and quality of work. Will also have direct oversight for meeting all regulatory, infection prevention, and life safety requirements and ensuring project is survey-ready throughout life of project. This includes but is not limited to regulations set by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, The Joint Commission, Colorado State Department of Public Health and Environment, and local fire agencies. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Pos itio n Requirements:

  • Licensure/Certification/Registration : American Institute of Architects required. American Society of Healthcare Engineers, preferred.
  • Education : Architectural Degree required.
  • Experience : Minimum 3 years of direct construction management experience or architectural project management experience. Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Special Qualifications : Knowledge of construction terminology construction budget preparation and tracking. Knowledge of Uniform Building Code, International Building Code, National Fire Protection Association, Field Guide Institute, Centers for Disease Control infection prevention practices, OSHA and applicable state regulations including asbestos and fire prevention. Must have effective verbal and written communication in order to communicate a clear concise manner with staff, employees, patients, public, physicians and administration. Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. Preferred knowledge of AutoCAD.
