Job Summary
Configure, install, and troubleshoot complex local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems. Includes multi-layer switching, routing, and wireless in an enterprise Cisco environment. Position requires understanding of IP Address subnetting, basic Quality of Service (QoS) configuration, wireless survey tools, OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP routing implementation. Must be available for on-call support on a regular basis. We are a 7/24 healthcare provider so extensive evening and weekend hours may be required for system turn ups, upgrades, problem resolution, etc. Work is subject to visibility through exposure to CHS IS administration. Requires proficiency in verbal and written communications.
 
Essential Functions
  • Maintains within established levels, the technical performance of network systems supporting the CHS enterprise, which includes hospitals, medical office buildings, physician practices, administrative and financial offices, and all support facilities.
  • Monitors system performance and takes appropriate action to insure the best performance and utilization of network resources.
  • Supports the Cisco networking systems, working with multiple IS departments and vendors to provide stable and reliable network connectivity.
  • Implements designed network solutions, understanding the ramifications for problems within Information Services.
  • Works proficiently in both a team setting and independently, accepting instruction and leadership from fellow team members.
  • Follows defined protocols for working with customers and appropriately balances needs and resources.
  • Assists in implementation of process improvement initiatives within Information Services.
  • Able to effectively execute project plans for network system implementations.
  • Must own reliable transportation.
 
Physical Requirements
Work is subject to high-level visibility through exposure to CHS administration. This position will require high degree of proficiency in verbal and written communications. Must be available for callback support on a regular basis. This position requires evenings and weekend hours at times for conversions training, due to schedules. Employee does not have direct patient contact. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field preferred. The ideal candidate will have a Cisco certification and experience with the following: Cisco NX-OS, Cisco IOS-XE, Quality of Service, Access Control Lists, Nexus platform, Virtual Port Channels and Fabric Extenders, Wireless LAN Controller Implementation, and Wireless Survey Tools.
