Clinical Fellowship Year /Speech & Language Pathology - Orlando

Orlando seeks to hire Clinical Fellowship Year /Speech & Language Pathology who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Department Profile:

Florida Hospital Rehabilitation offers comprehensive rehabilitation within a premier multi-specialty medical center. Our primary customers are patients and families. Our partners are physicians and our team members are all employees of Florida Hospital. Fl. FH Rehabilitation Administrative Office is located at 5165 Adanson St, Orlando. The team includes the Administrative Director and other operational and clinical leaders. This team supports the clinical and operational functions across all 8 hospitals.

Sunday-Thursday & flex; 8a - 5p

Job Summary:

Provides direct and indirect services in the acute care, inpatient, and/or outpatient rehabilitation settings. Utilizes process improvement in achieving the goals of the Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Department. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies. May supervise technical aides and volunteers. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:
  • Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology
  • Demonstration of at least entry level professional competency of Speech and Language practice, theory, principles and applications.
  • Basic computer skills to include Outlook, Microsoft Office and Windows (Preferred)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
  • Provisional State of Florida license as a Speech-Language Pathologist
  • BLS Certificate

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs evaluations and re-evaluations according to standards and recommended techniques, under the mentorship of a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist. Establishes implements and adapts an individualized treatment plan of care (including appropriate goal setting, treatment activities and frequency). Discharges patients when maximum benefit has been achieved and/or according to standards of practice and payor guidelines.
  • Documents accurately, completely, and timely with legible handwriting. Uses measurable and objective terminology following standards of practice, insurance guidelines and department/hospital policy and procedures.
  • Charges patient accurately, timely and legibly according to guidelines of the CPT code format, price file, and following insurance guidelines.
  • Identifies the need for patient/caregiver education and utilizes each opportunity for teaching on a planned or spontaneous basis. Documents education and understanding as appropriate.
  • Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
  • Meets the productivity standards, as defined by department.
  • Willingly adjusts and adapts to changes in patient census by altering working hours to assist in other centers/programs as approved and observed by manager.
  • Practices principles of employee and patient safety when performing daily job activities via observation. Takes responsibility for the environment of care by monitoring and taking action as needed.
  • Handles and disposes of hazardous waste following established protocols. Consistently adheres to department's radiation dosimetry process, including meeting all badge return deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Complies with FH Compliance Plan, rules and regulations of all local, state, and federal agencies, and with the standards of all accrediting bodies and payors as evident through documentation reviews, tracers and rounds results
