Compliance Educator - Revenue Cycle - Maitland

Established in 1908, Florida Hospital is one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare systems in the country, caring for more than a million patients each year. The Maitland Office Plaza houses our highly skilled teams that support our hospital system including Marketing, Patient Financial Services, Revenue Management, the Credit Union and Human Resources. Department Profile:
The Revenue Cycle Financial Operations, Data Quality Management, and Systems Support Teams at Florida Hospital Maitland include Data Quality Management, Denial Management, Revenue Cycle Financial Operations, and Revenue Cycle Financial Operations Systems Support, as well as their support and management staff. These teams work together with areas of the Revenue Cycle in order to ensure operations run smoothly and new initiatives are communicated in a timely manner. They work closely with MIS to keep all equipment working correctly. These teams are also in charge of administrative functions and oversight for all Revenue Cycle Financial Operations departments.

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, responsible for our New Employee Orientation, offers continuing and compliance education to staff, developing training materials and online CBL presentations as necessary, reporting staff completion outcomes to Leadership. Maintains Disaster Childcare staffing reports. Administrator for Net Learning and Operation Team website, including maintenance of online Department Resource Manual. Functions as an Educator in Training Classroom setting and on-site campus visits. Attends Non-Clinical Educator and PA/PFS Department Management meetings to ensure departmental compliance with all hospital directives and initiates impacting department. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Adheres to Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:
  • Minimum (2) years experience in Revenue Cycle Department or related area. Ability to use discretion when discussing personnel/patient related issues that are confidential in nature. Ability to be responsive to ever-changing matrix of hospital needs and act accordingly. Typing skills equal to 20 words per minute. Self-motivator, quick thinker. Proficiency in performance of basic math functions, capable of communicating professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Organized, detail oriented and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively. High proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc…). Associate's degree in Business, Healthcare or Health Services Administration, Health Information Management, Communications, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, Human Resources, Management, Marketing, or related field (Preferred)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports training new staff by administering bi- weekly New Hire Department Orientation according to Florida Hospital Human Resources compliance and guidelines for all new employees. Offers continuing compliance education to all PA/PFS staff, developing training materials as necessary. Maintains all assigned resource materials, coordinating review with partners, and uploads to department website. Maintains education documentation provided to staff for historical compliance purposes. Administrator for Net Learning and Operations team website. Resource for support of Medicare & Medicaid rejection and denial reports. Attends Non-Clinical Educator and PA/PFS Department Management meetings on-site to ensure departmental compliance with all hospital directives and initiatives impacting department. Travels to campus to coordinates special training activities as requested by Leadership. Creates PA/PFS requested compliance or continuing education training material, including creating presentations distributing to all staff. Maintains reservations for training rooms and equipment, accuracy of PA/PFS Department Payor Manual Rates Book, containing billing contract rates for all contract payors using Lotus Notes. Maintains Disaster Childcare Staff Assignment reports, updating biweekly with new staff assignments, transfers and termination updates, adjusting coverage per campus needs. Ensures PA/PFS patient account compliance by remaining abreast of all Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) requirements and trains staff accordingly. When applicable, works directly with MIS in the implementation of new AHCA rules and regulations. Reviews, analyzes and resolves AHCA patient account errors through quarterly report. Prepares for each new training class by creating new hire employee document file and appropriately managing all student training material packets including PA/PFS orientation workbooks, videos, presentations, Florida Hospital required Compliance CBL's, and appropriate polices and procedures. Creates and maintains online CBL presentations related to compliance items, PA/PFS continuing Education, new processes or protocols, and/or AHS related initiatives, reporting outcomes of staff completion reports to Leadership as requested. When functioning in classroom as New Hire Department Orientation Educator, performs supervisory functions to facilitate efficient operations of department, including: correction of time and attendance for new hires; documenting competency outcomes in Optima, Sunport and Tracking Reports within expected time frames, notifying Audit team of all new PA/PFS Staff who graduate basic training, as required, in a timely manner. Reviews and maintains, possibly creating, evaluation surveys, via on-line communication, to "Buddy" and new staff within specified time frames. Communicates issues or concerns timely to appropriate Leadership.
