Florida Hospital Orlando seeks to hire Courier who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Facility Profile:
Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. Department Profile:
Florida Hospital Courier Logistics is a new department whose main focus is the development and improvement of Supply Chain Management Logistics. Our role is to offer support to all Florida Hospital Facilities and its caregivers. Our team's emphasis is placed on offering excellent customer service and transporting and delivering goods in an efficient and timely manner.

Work Hours/Shifts:
9:30am - 6pm; S-S

Job Summary:
The Laboratory Courier safely transports laboratory specimens, various equipment, laboratory supplies, patient reports and similar objects between hospitals, campus hospitals and outreach clients. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:
  • Skills and aptitudes related to operating motorized vehicles safely.
  • Ability to maintain schedule under time constraints.
  • Ability to read text and numbers in English, with demonstrated ability to comprehend, measure, reason, match and problem solve.
  • Ability to learn and apply computer related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices.
  • Mature judgement and the ability to handle confidential information within Florida Hospital guidelines and applicable regulations.
  • Ability to handle infectious biological specimens, caustics, toxic chemicals and/or irritants appropriately and safely.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written form with persons of varied backgrounds in a respectful, effective and professional manner.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to buzzers, bells, flashing lights, and pagers.
  • 6 months' courier related experience (Preferred)
  • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
  • Valid Florida Class "E" Driver's License and driving record in accordance with Florida Hospital policy

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operates hospital vehicle within the laws of State of Florida; maintains vehicle as expected.
  • Safely transports biological specimens and related paperwork according to defined schedule and department expectations.
  • Safely transports equipment, supplies, reports and similar items according to department expectations.
  • Performs various support activities to facilitate operation of laboratory to meet client's needs.
  • Participates in, and has knowledge of, laboratory and hospital Performance Improvement activities.
  • Provides resolution to customer service issues within guidelines.
  • Adheres strictly to Florida Hospital Compliance Plan and the rules and regulations of applicable regulatory authorities; protects confidentiality of patient information and results at all times.
  • Appropriately uses PPE, and follows safety policies, including handwashing. Understands and adheres to Chemical Hygiene plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or area.
