Job Summary: The primary responsibilities of the Tape Laying Machine Operator are to operate a variety of tape laying machines in the production process. These machines can include the roll to roll and roll to sheet mechanisms, various models and manufactures of machines. Responsibilities are primarily general machine operation, basic troubleshooting, and daily maintenance. This position will clean and prepare work area and machine for next workday or shift at the end of shift. In addition, all operators will be crossed trained in the ProCard Products packaging and shipping area.

Operator Levels: Operators are placed in levels 1 - 5. All operators enter employment as a level one (1) operator. Advancement is based on knowledge of operations, troubleshooting, performance, and various other reviewed categories. An additional addendum will be given to each operator based on advancement. To advance to a level 2 operator the following minimum requirements must be met in addition to a minimum of 90 days employment. Requirements will be evaluated directly with the employee by the Tape Layer Production Supervisor or through evaluation of the employee by a Level 5 operator as directed by the supervisor.

1. Prepare Machine for start of shift, which include necessary materials and paperwork.

2. Read work orders and communicate with coworkers to determine machine and equipment settings and adjustments and supply and product specifications.

3. Perform duties necessary to operate machine and perform required tasks according to machine or position procedures.

4. Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and report or resolve problems.

5. Complete all necessary paperwork required for machine operated on for the position.

6. Clean machines at end of shift to prepare for next workday or next shift.

7. Clean and stock work area in preparation for next workday or shift.

8. Labeling and packaging material. Assisting packaging area as directed.

9. Remove jammed materials from machines and readjust components as necessary to resume normal operations.

10. Examine and measure completed materials or products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring devices such as tape measures, gauges, or calipers, and other verification devices.

11. Perform quality checks as indicated.

12. Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

13. Perform test production runs and make adjustments as necessary to ensure that completed products meet standards and specifications.

14. Perform these and other duties as assigned by supervisor or other appropriate management personnel.


1. High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

2. Basic math and reading skills.

3. Ability to multi-task.

4. Good interpersonal and communication skills.

5. Basic computer and mechanical abilities required.

1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, speak, hear and comprehend. The employee is required to stand for extended period of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms on a daily basis. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.

Hours are Monday-Thursday 2pm-12:30am. Friday as needed for overtime.
