Job Description

AHS is looking for an Integration Analyst/Developer to join a progressive team responsible for healthcare data interoperability and system integration. The ideal candidate would have working knowledge of APIs/web development and system integration, great analytical skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and the desire to build and support an infrastructure that daily impacts clinicians and patient care.

Primary job duties for the position:
  • Analyzes thoroughly and proposes effective solutions for interface projects and problems. Analyzes current interface functionality as well as impact of future design decisions on interfaces under the guidance of a senior Integration team member or manager.
  • Designs changes and enhancements to interfaces. Under the guidance of senior integration team members, designs routing, mapping, and scripting logic for interfaces. Diagrams high-level and detailed interface designs.
  • Develops interfaces using the appropriate standard or protocol (such as: HL7, CCD, XML, X12, FTP, HTTP(S), FHIR, web services, API, or other interoperability standards and protocols) according to the documented specifications. Codes interface logic using programming and scripting languages that lead to efficient use of the resources provided and meets customers' needs while adhering to quality standards set by management. (such as: TCL, Korn shell, CCL, or other appropriate languages). Effectively uses interface engines (such as: Cloverleaf, Cerner Open Engine, or other comparable systems) to support Adventist Information Technology's interoperability projects with Cerner, Athena Health, or other systems. Meets development productivity and quality standards set by management.
  • Executes testing and creates associated documentation. Plans and implements interface changes.
  • Communicates, coordinates, and escalates issues in order to seek resolution. Provides accurate and timely status updates to team lead and management, escalating roadblocks as necessary. Communicates clearly and effectively with team members, other AIT teams, vendors, customers, and management.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical challenges and problems, escalates if necessary. Participates in on-call rotation involving 24 X 7 interface support.



  • Ability to coordinate competing priorities and issues to facilitate appropriate client support and escalation of issues.
  • Ability to logically read and comprehend technical and/or functional manuals and instructions.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve issues.
  • Demonstrates thorough analytical skills and creates detailed and useful specifications

  • Knowledge of Cerner, Health Level 7 (HL7), Cloverleaf (or comparable interface engine), Scripting Languages (TCL, Korn shell, or comparable), web technologies, API, Linux, UNIX, and/or SQL

  • 1-2 years of IT work experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Business, or Healthcare field
