Job Summary
Supervises, develops, and ensures employee satisfaction of assigned staff. Develops good customer and vendor relationships while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Coordinates team activities, maintains efficient and effective processes, and manages all resources available to eliminate waste.

Essential Functions
  • Assesses, plans, coordinates, and evaluates the operations of the Clinical Value Analysis Department for CSS to ensure quality, safe, and cost effective products are brought for review by an educated and competent staff. 
  • Serves as the Materials Resource Management liaison with assigned PEPS teams.
  • Participate as a facilitator, chair, co-chair or ad hoc member on hospital system committees or sub-committees. Participation includes but is not limited to interaction between CVA PEPS and other supply related committees, teams, task forces and work groups as it relates to process, structure and standardization /utilization.
  • Assists other departments outside PEPS on system-wide initiatives as needed in relation to supply chain related products and processes. Departments may include but not limited to the following: Infection Prevention, Risk Management, Clinical Resource Management, Quality Management, Employee-Patient Safety, Policy and Practice Council, Clinical Optimization, etc.
  • Serves on Materials Resource Management committees such as PCM implementation, CSS Communication Forum, and any other committees requested by management.
  • Participates in Premier Inc. category based council as required.
  • Serves as a resource in evaluating Premier S2S brand products to ensure appropriateness of selection and quality and safety for patient care
  • Supports Lean Principles, continuously reviews departmental processes and procedures to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, consistency.
  • Interacts and is responsive to all CSS customers including CHS department managers and business partners
  • Works rapidly and accurately under pressure and meets project deadlines.
  • Provides routinely required management reports to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Hires, administers performance appraisals, counsels, disciplines, and terminates employees as warranted and in accordance with the practice of Carolinas HealthCare System
  • Conducts regular staff meetings with CVA group and provide feedback to supervisor.
  • Responsible for employee training and education of the team members to develop personal and career goals.
  • Reviews and approves time sheets for all employees under supervision.
  • Regularly participates in management development activities as required.
  • Develops cross-functional training within CVA team.
  • Follows employee conduct expectations.  Understands and accepts the philosophy, direction and policies of the organization as outlined (ie., reporting system, dress code, productivity requirements, acceptable behavior).
  • Reviews and monitors team efficiency in the procurement process including maximizing the number of lines per PO, ordering in case quantities at the correct price, and utilizing EDI order placement whenever possible.
  • Reviews and analyzes ordered items to determine whether status change from non-stock to stock is warranted.
  • Assures that department requisitions are reviewed for compliance with CHS's contractual agreement.
  • Develops and implements regular call schedule to assigned customers by responsible staff.
  • Coordinates the functions of contract conversion and contract compliance monitoring with the regional facility customers and ensures that the regional facilities receive a high level of customer satisfaction through accurate and timely support.
  • Reviews processes and procedures to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and consistency are maintained for the services provided.
  • Assists assigned facilities in managing ongoing CSS contract conversions maximizing supply savings and contract compliance.
  • Makes quarterly visits to assigned regional facilities to discuss contract conversions, contract compliance, issues, concerns and improvements.
Physical Requirements
Works in an office environment. Sight, hearing, and speech capabilities sufficient to communicate well with individuals and groups. May require travel to System facilities and affiliate sites. Responsible for working in a safe manner.

Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED, CMRP Certification, or working toward certification by AHRMM and 5 years associated healthcare resource and materials management experience; or Associates Degree and 5 years of associated healthcare resource and materials management experience; or Bachelors Degree and 3 years of associated healthcare resource and materials management experience required. Computer skills for Microsoft software required.
